GOP Message to Virginia: Resistance is Futile
WDBJ7, the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, is reporting that the GOP has somehow gotten approval from the Virginia State Board of Elections to require Republican primary voters to sign an oath that they will vote for the party’s nominee next November.
This is insanity. The GOP movement toward totalitarianism has been on my mind a lot lately, but I can’t imagine in what universe this can be considered legal. It doesn’t matter whether something like this is enforceable - signing one’s name to a pledge of any kind is a serious thing. Men of honor do not break their word, and they don’t sign something just for political expediency with the thought in mind that later on, they’ll just go back on it.
This has got to stop. I can only hope that this gets challenged by someone who knows how to bring it to light (and bring it down).
