Yeah, I know. Nobody likes to hear the trite clichés about starving people in the world when they’re having a bad day. I can’t speak for anyone else, but people of my generation have been inundated our whole lives with this kind of thing, from the famine in Ethiopia to those Sally Struthers commercials - [...]

The debate has only been over for a short while and someone has already uploaded highlights to YouTube. Despite having a TV on my desk here at work (my office is sort of like a newsroom) I only got to see bits and pieces of the debate. These highlights indicate to me that this was [...]

Via an e-mail from a friend, I’ve learned just minutes ago that Fr. Marcial Maciel, founder of the Legionaries of Christ has died.
The Legionaries’ website lists his death as having occurred yesterday.
As most of you probably know, Fr. Maciel was recently removed from public ministry after a Vatican investigation. The investigation followed numerous sexual abuse charges brought against him by former [...]

Seriously. Stop voting for this guy. He’s creepy. He’s got awful policies on everything that matters. He needs to just go away, and I’m getting the sinking feeling that that’s not going to happen. Somehow, he’s stolen all of the momentum his GOP opponents seem to be missing.
With that notable exception, however, this campaign is [...]

There’s an exhibit travelling the world that you’ve probably heard of. It’s simply called Bodies: The Exhibition, and it’s an admittedly fascinating look at real human bodies which have been stripped of their skin, plasticized, and posed in a variety of ways to demonstrate movement. It’s a unique perspective on what lies beneath what we [...]

Foreign Policy tackles a handful of countries who are beefing up their military programs rather than downsizing them. Far and away, the U.S. is at the top of the list, with spending in excess of $400 billion dollars annually - and that’s the budget, not the extra expenses of war.
At only a quarter of that [...]

I’m not kidding. Go to google. Type “Find Chuck Norris” into the search box, then click the “I’m feeling lucky button.”
It’s like a roundhouse kick to the face.

Pat Buchanan lends some insight into why we really, really shouldn’t want McCain to win:
The three issues that ruined the Bush presidency are this misbegotten war in Iraq, the failure to secure America’s borders from invasion and a mindless trade policy that has destroyed the dollar and left foreigners with $5 trillion to buy up [...]

Deal Hudson has a piece today on why he doesn’t trust Mitt Romney, and after reading it I think you’ll agree.
Romney puts forth a strong showing in many respects, and he’s obviously extremely intelligent and articulate. He also practically has “will work for power” scrawled across his forehead. He’s sort of the real live version of [...]

Barack Obama is my any measurable standard even more liberal than Hilary Clinton, and therefore should be the less desired candidate by conservatives.
And yet I find myself filling with an inward glee every time he manhandles Hilary in a primary - he took South Carolina this weekend by a margin of 55 to Clinton’s 27 [...]
