This is ridiculous. A 13 year-old-girl was attacked and threatened with worse in Texas after making an anti-illegal immigration sign for a class project:
It was an assignment for history class–to make a protest sign for or against an issue, and Melanie said she chose illegal immigration. Her sign read, “If you love our nation, stop illegal immigration.” Somehow, Melanie said the sign got passed around lunch and angered a group of Latino students.
“I didn’t know any of these people,” she said. One young, she claimed, jumped on her back and he put her in a choke hold. “We have brick walls in the middle school and he slammed my face on the bricks.”
Melanie said a group of boys also threatened to rape and kill her. Eventually, the boys let her go and when she went for help, she was ordered back to class, and told she could not call her parents, she said.
“They handled this wrong, you know, they put a child back in danger,” said J.R. Bowers. “It was a very racially motivated crime.”
This is total bulls***t. The government and the school coddles this behavior while those who oppose it suffer. On some areas of the border, sniper teams and protective details are required just to keep reporters doing stories on the problem safe.
We have a right to control immigration in this country - legal and illegal. Statistics have shown that there is a correlation between legal and illegal immigration, because the legal immigrants often harbor relatives who cross illegally.
Laboring under the assumption that these attackers (and their families) are legally in this country, I’d say their actions bear out that fact. Regulation of all types of immigration needs to be reformed.
We need to get this under control before we lose the border states.
UPDATE: New evidence has come to light that the girl in this post (which I wrote last night to be published this morning) faked her injuries.
She was dumb enough to do something like this, but smart enough to know just how believable it would be. It doesn’t change the fact that the issue remains very real.

I’ve been on the border a few times studying and if you’re standing on the U.S. side it’s not so dangerous that they need snipers. Of course, it could be a different border town that you’re referring to. Mostly the border looks like a war zone - there are like 3 or 4 fences that span the border of Juarez and El Paso, TX. No one messes with you because they want to wait until no one is there to cross and not draw attention to themselves. Now on the mexico side, that might be different. There seems to be a lot more crime on the MX side in Juarez but mostly it’s inner turmoil. Latino culture and U.S. culture colliding causes some issues.
I agree with you though, something has to be done about the crime associated with immigration. I doubt though that we have anything to fear from latino immigrants who are here to work. Most want to keep a really low profile.
There’s going to be tension! We put up walls and tell people that they can’t have what we have. Instead we send our manufacturing down there and pay them $0.12 an hour. Sure, I’d be pissed too and want to come here. If I made $0.12 I wouldn’t be able to afford getting a legal visa.. And what are you going to do when your family is living in poverty. There’s always going to be a few bad apples in a bunch… I’m not saying every person that comes here is perfect but it makes sense why they want to come here. And we’re denying people access while partially being the cause of their reason for wanting to work in the U.S.
Sorry for the rant. Just something that I’m passionate about.
The border isn’t an obstacle to many immigrants who are trained in other immigration loopholes. Stop VAWA based immigration fraud! The majority of VAWA cases are simply fraud perpetuated by dishonest residency seekers and organizations who benefit from the Billion in funding.
I was confronted by Sergeant John Bandemer of the Saint Paul Police ( Vice and Human Trafficking Unit) department for speaking out about immigration fraud. He only seemed concerned about the funding his department receives from a group called the Civil Society from programs such as VAWA.
Police departments are clearly better funded by arresting law abiding fathers in favor of dishonest immigrants who may be perusing VAWA based immigration fraud. That’s my opinion and the way I see things.
