I’ve Always Wanted To Try Absinthe

And now, I can.
Problem is, I’ve looked at the new stuff coming into the stores, and it’s about $70 a bottle. Not sure that I see any short-term likelihood of satisfying my curiosity at that price.

I also would like to try it and find it is outside of my budget. I think I saw it for less that $70, but maybe not. Someday we will have to pool our resources together and find out what it is like.
… but absinthe makes the heart grow fonder!!!!
Absinthe is strange and frightening stuff. When I tried it–after putting out the chemical fire (one sugars and lights the beverage first) with a plate–I was so nervous that the flavour hardly registered. I spent the next hour expecting green faeries to to peek around corners or pop out from behind the furniture. It didn’t happen, and I’m still not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.
For all its fearsomeness of reputation, though, absinthe has lead to a great deal of good. The Strindberg and Helium series, for example. Do you know it?
