I’m sick of it all. In times like these, I’ve decided to do the only sensible thing I can - start a beer, wine, and food blog.
Nothing will change here, I just want a place to keep all my gastronomical musings, which at the moment are getting lost to posterity through sheer laziness on my part. Then, months later when I say to my wife, “Wife, what was that excellent Pinot Noir we had?” and I get the blank stare in return, I know where to go to find it.

I’d like to start a beer and food blog. The beer will be one of the fine “popularly priced” brands, and the food will mostly be dried beans, lentils, plain noodles… when people ask why I don’t review the finer things, I’ll say, “It’s because you haven’t hit up the tip jar, moron! Pay up!”
Joe,
I wish I had a budget to really test out more of the good stuff. I’m limited to buying a bottle of wine on Sunday, for the most part, or occasionally a decent bottle of good beer. (Life is too short to drink cheap beer - unless you make it yourself, which I plan to start doing.)
We don’t have many treats. We almost never go out to dinner, I bring my lunches and make my coffee at home, and we drive as infrequently as possible to save on gas. The little splurges make life worth living, and if it’s alcohol, it helps you to ignore the “I probably shouldn’t have bought that” guilt that you feel afterward.
