There was a wonderful satirical piece that came out in 1995 or so, outlining what PBS programming would look like now that the Republicans had taken over.

My favorite was ”Where in the World is Carmen San Diego: Guest Detective Pat Buchanan helps kids build a wall around the U.S.”

I liked that show! It was a game show on PBS. Rockapella did the theme song.

Jeff, that song was the theme song of the (terrible) Carmen SanDiego TV show.

That’s what comes of raising almost a dozen gamers, starting in 1981. There was even a Carmen SanDiego spelling game, which actually helped fix the damage that two years of public school did to my eldest daughter’s ability to spell. We still have it installed somewhere. And more Waldo books kicking around the house than I care to think about.

I didn’t get it either. And I still don’t. But I do remember hearing a tune in the 80’s that goes “where in the world is carmen san diego”. I’m not sure where it came from though.

I’m also reminded of the Simpsons episode where Bart is paging through a Where’s Waldo book and Waldo’s face is staring right out at him.
